Neill Blomkamp helms the production as director. Fans may recognize Archie Madekwe as from his role in the Apple TV+ series See. Horror fans may also recognize him as Simon, one of the unfortunate guests in Midsommar. Other notable cast members include David Harbour, Orlando Bloom, Djimon Honsou, Geri Halliwell, and Sang Heon Lee.
Instead of being a movie set inside the world of the game per se, Gran Turismo is actually a biographical sports drama. The film is based on the true story of Jann Mardenborough. In 2011, Mardenborough came 3rd place in GT Academy, a Nissan Sponsored video competition where players compete against each other in Gran Turismo for the chance to earn a real life racing career with Nissan. The film takes us through his journey, including all the ups and downs, of becoming a professional racer.
