Broadway shows out now — Hamilton

Hamilton, one of the most popular shows in Broadway history, re-opened at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on West 46th Street on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. The sung-and-rapped-through musical covers Alexander Hamilton’s life through the American Revolution and the country’s earliest years.

Broadway shows out now — Wicked

On the same day Hamilton reopened, Wicked returned to the Gershwin Theatre on West 51st Street where it’s run since 2003. Theatergoers can see the story of Glinda and Elphaba, which has grown into Broadway’s fifth-longest-running production, several nights a week with regular matinee performances.

Broadway shows out now — Chicago

Chicago in New York? Sure, why not? The second longest-running musical in Broadway shows history (it trails only The Phantom of the Opera) is currently playing at the Ambassador Theatre on West 49th Street. Angelica Ross makes her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart with Amra-Fayne Wright as Velma and Brandon Victor Dixon as Billy Flynn.

Leopoldstadt

Tom Stoppard returns to Broadway with his critically acclaimed, Olivier Award-winning Best Play. Set in Vienna, the play takes its title from the Jewish quarter. This passionate drama of love and endurance begins in the last days of 1899 and follows one extended family deep into the heart of the 20th century. Moulin Rouge! The Musical

Moulin Rouge! The Musical can be found at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre on West 4th Street. The show, which has run on Broadway since November 2018, reopened on Friday, September 24. The jukebox musical now stars Ashley Loren as Satine and Derek Klena as Christian, who fall in love in the Montmartre Quarter of Paris at the dawn of the 20th century. Moulin Rouge is an adaptation of the 2001 film directed by Baz Luhrmann and features popular contemporary songs rearranged to fit its setting.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Return to Hogwarts with Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, an inventive play that picks up the Wizarding World’s story 19 years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The play reopened at the Lyric Theatre in Times Square on Friday, November 12. The current Broadway version of the show has been condensed into a 1-part performance, which differs slightly from the 2-night original version of the show that fans in London can still catch in the West End.

The Book of Mormon

The Book of Mormon returned to the Eugene O’Neill Theatre on West 49th Street on Friday, November 5. The hit musical, which was written by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, has been satirizing the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 2011.

Hadestown

Greek mythology fans can travel to the underworld with Orpheus in Hadestown, which won Best Musical and Best Original Score at the 73rd Tony Awards. Hadestown plays at the Walter Kerr Theatre on West 48th Street and was one of the first Broadway shows to return when it reopened in September 2021. The musical, which features music from singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell, combines the classic Greek myths of Orpheus and Eurydice and Hades and Persephone.

SIX — Broadway shows out now

SIX took the West End by storm when it opened in 2019. A retelling of the story of Henry VIII’s 6 wives, this pop concert-esque show is now running on Broadway at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. The Lion King

See another Disney movie come alive with The Lion King on Broadway. Following the plot of the film, the show focuses on Simba, a young cub who earns the title of the king of the pride lands. When his evil uncle wrongly blames Simba for his death, he runs away and meets a meerkat named Timone and a warthog named Pumba.

MJ The Musical Broadway shows out now

Funny Girl Broadway shows out now

Beanie Feldstein stars as Broadway actress Fanny Brice in the revival of Funny Girl.
