A Feast for the Senses: Beyoncé’s RENAISSANCE Film Graces Theaters This December

This past Sunday, Beyonce wrapped up her 56-date Renaissance World Tour.

Although it only went to ten different European countries before hitting up Canada and the U.S., one might have to consider its unmistakable Black LGBTQ+ theme and attempts to make venue bathrooms gender-neutral.

“Demand Drastically Exceeds Supply”

Back in January, about three-and-a-half months before the tour even began, Live Nation announced that “Fan demand already exceeds the number of available tickets by more than 800% based on current registration numbers in the Group A cities.”

More dates were added but still “… the majority of interested fans will not be able to get tickets because demand drastically exceeds supply.”

Fortunately for all of us who missed out, RENAISSANCE: A FILM BY BEYONCÉ, will premiere in North American cinemas on December 1.

The film will chronicle the entire tour from Stockholm to Kansas City, Missouri. Its focus will be on Beyoncé’s “intention, hard work, involvement in every aspect of the production {and} her creative mind and purpose to create her legacy and master her craft,” according to an announcement from AMC Theatres.

Confirmed reports and reviews of Renaissance concert performances predict that viewers of the film should expect glimpses of some of Beyoncé’s 140 very carefully curated looks from hometown designers at specific tour stops. Also, expect several Blue Ivy dancing shots and sparkly horse rides.

This isn’t Beyoncé’s first foray into visual media. I Am… Yours: An Intimate Performance at Wynn Las Vegas, a concert performance DVD was released in 2009. HBO’s Life Is But A Dream and Lemonade came out in 2009 and 2016, respectively. In 2019, Netflix premiered Homecoming: A Film By Beyoncé.
